Wierd Text in Internet Browsers

Okay, I noticed this last night and it is extremely wierd:

If you look at all of the text you can see that there are little squiggly things going through all of it. I ran a virus scan and AVG free did find a virus (which I was super surprised about, my first virus in years). The first virus was Trojan Horse Dropper.Generic.FWK and the second was Java/ByteVerify. However, a second scan last night showed that those viruses did not come back and my problem is still happening. I also ran a spyware/malware scan.

Is this only on facebook? I don't have this issue with FB- have you tried another browser? The only thing I can think of is a funky CSS issue / cache / FF theme or video settings concerning text.

It is a lot of different sites and, I should have mentioned, it does the same thing in Internet Explorer 7. Also, I tried reinstalling Firefox and that did not help.

Are you using ClearType? If you are, try going through the wizard again.
Also, try updating your video drivers.

Yeah, nothing changed with either of those. While my video drivers were uninstalled I tried going to facebook (and other sites) and the problem was still there. You think a HJT log would help?

Huh, I'm stumped- does this happen with different web fonts?

Wow, you guys are going to laugh at this.

So the other day I was trying to figure out a way to get Lucida Grande font in Windows (it is the default OS X font). So I downloaded this program that converts fonts, it worked and converted the font, but only fifty percent of the font because it was a trial version. Just to see what the font looked like, I installed it. So, for web pages where Lucida Grande was the first font listed in the CSS, those pages would try to display that font with fifty percent missing. That is why the text looked so weird.

Anyway, I deleted the font and everything is back to normal. Thanks guys.

Ah... very nice find. Don't play with the Windows system fonts!
