You can add text to photos in almost any photoeditting program. Paint, Photoshop, Acrlyic (MS product in Beta that is free), any one you like. What do you mean make white text on a black screen? You could make that in any photo edditing program as well, MS Paint would work just fine. If I remember correctly there is a way to add text in Movie Maker but it isnt to customizable, making a picture should work.

eck windows movie maker is the worst video editing program i have ever used next to nero vision and pinnacle studios.

with windows movie maker, there is a title and credits editor. all you do is type what you want and choose the animation. i'll post a screenshot of where it is when imageshack comes back online for me.

btw if you are wondering what $100+ program i am using for my editing, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro

Ok...How do you add text to a photo...so that the text can fade into the existing photo? What Im doing is making a tribute video for some military guys and I want to superimpose the names onto the photos as the video plays( like a slideshow to music) Get what I mean? I know that I can add titles and such before or after a selected scene but how do you add the text to a selected scene? It doesnt have to fade in but that would be the most desirable effect for me. I tried adding text to the photos in paint and then playing them in order but it looks awful and you can't read the words.

the text will become an overlay. i really haven't done much editing with movie maker but i based on all the editing programs i've used, the overlay should be a video clip with text and a transparent background. you can apply the fade in transistion to the overlay as you would with the actual video clip.

i hope you understood that. if not, then i will try to provide screenshots.

@nickweb, yea it was paint and i fully agree that its the worst program for picture editing :p

i was not in the mood to fire up photoshop to do something that takes the time of the startup time of photoshop.

edit: ruslan, do not add the text by editing the picture if you want the fade in effect.
