Does anyone know how to add an upperline/overbar to words on MS?
I thought it would've been implimented by now...

You may need to copy the individual characters in from the Character Map/Generator program which used to be under Start, Programs, Accessories, Character Map

Pardon my stupidity, but what exactly is an upperline/overbar?

Upperline and overbar are 2 terms for the same thing. It is a character with a line over it, like underlined except over the character instead of under.

I was trying to find a Symbol/Character map that had Greek letters with an overbar on them, but couldn't find any. Not even checking the three Greek fonts that I have could I find a single one with an overbar on them. And yes, an upperline/overbar is just basically an upside-down underline. I did find some sort of macro code that would work - but I don't have a clue when it comes to macro's...

Step One
Go to "Insert" at the top of the Microsoft Word application. Step Two Select "Symbol." Step Three Leave the default selection of normal text in the "Font" field. Step Four Scroll down past the normal characters you see on the keyboard until you see the letters of the alphabet again, but with the overbar symbol over the character. Step Five Choose the letter you want to use and select "Insert." Step Six Hit "Cancel" to exit the box and you will find that the character has been inserted into the document. It will also stay in the "Recently Used Symbols" field the next time you open the Symbol box for quicker selection. From http://www.ehow.com/how_2058167_do-o...soft-word.html |

Been to that site before - Whilst the English/Latin characters have overbars on them (although they do NOT join in one line when several are selected together), no other language characters have a Symbol with an overbar on them, which is why I said "I was trying to find a Symbol/Character map that had Greek letters with an overbar on them, but couldn't find any," hence my dilemma.
Even BB code has overline for it. Edit: Found out how to do it - Use a field code. Basically, follow the instructions found here: http://wordtips.vitalnews.com/Pages/...haracters.html I found the 2nd and 3rd way of doing it were the best options. The first option gives far to big a line over the top
