Unknown Hardware problem....

I think that it is a hardware problem I am having with my computer, I don't see how it could be software. But any tips anyone could give me about this I would greatly appreciate because I have no idea what to do. My computer randomly reboots itself on its own. No matter what I'm doing, gaming - browsing the web.. doesn't matter, it reboots itself on its own regularly. I have a descent computer, 2600+ Athlon, 120gig maxtor hd, sound blaster live xgamer, radeon 9000 pro 128mb, 512mb DDR RAM, 48x DVD-ROM Drive, 8X Burner, any other information you may need to help me figure out this problem I will provide.. Thanks to anyone who can help me out..

What OS do you have? How big is your power supply? Does your PC getting proper cooling?

Is it a cheap PSU or an Antec? Are all your AMD chipset drivers, hardware drivers up to date?

Go to Control Panel | Admin Tools | Event Viewer | System logs | look for the time that your PC rebooted and paste what the log(s) say.

Also from experiences with overclocking...After a big jump in multiplyer speed my computer would ramdomally restart....also sometimes windows wil sneak in a "shudluded task" that will shut down...or you may have some kind of virus/worm/trojan...

I'm not overclocking though =/
I've noticed it resets more often when i play games though...
But it still happens with other applications.

Do you have the latest Catalyst drivers for your Radeon? The Radeon 9800 takes 350 watts of power, that leaves 50 for the rest of your PC. When you don't have a good PSU like Antec TruePower you will probably come into problems like this.

I would also run Memtest86 to see if there are any problems with your RAM.

I'm sorry I am stupid. Are catalyst drivers different from the regular drivers? And will just updating these drivers fix my problem?

Catalyst drivers are what ATI names their driver suite (Video driver, Control Panel and WDM capture drivers) for their Radeon series cards. They have a lot of bug fixes. The latest version (3.10) fixed an issue I had with Call of Duty.
