TV-out gives Black and White image.

So, when i try to plug my HP pavilion ze5609ea laptop to TV-out it gives me clear video image but everything is in Black and White. My Video card is Radeo IGP 34xM and i am using Omega 2.5.97 drivers with it. I have another computer with it plugged to the TV it shows color. Any way to make the TV show colors?

How are you connecting it? Composite, S-Video...?

Since you're in Finland (moro) your video signal format is PAL, so make sure the output is set for that and not NTSC.

Also, if your TV set has more than one SCART plug and you're using SCART to connect, make sure you're using SCART-1 and not the secondary plug.

Also, here's something I found from ATI.com:
Quote:
When an ATI product with TV OUT (sometimes called "PC2TV") is configured to OUTPUT a television signal to a PAL-M or PAL-N TV, the picture will appear black and white on the television. Many ATI products (such as the ALL-IN-WONDER Family) offer video INPUT in multiple broadcast standards. North American versions of these products typically support capture in NTSC, PAL-M and PAL-N formats.

TV OUT, however, is limited to NTSC ONLY on these North American models.

PAL-format TV OUT is supported by some European models of our products, however PAL-M and PAL-N output support is not included in the European version either.

ATI TV OUT capable products do not support TV OUT in native PAL-M and PAL-N formats.

Most televisions sold in PAL-M and PAL-N regions also support NTSC signals.

Some TV's may adapt automatically to the format of the incoming signal, while others must be "switched" or "adjusted". Consult your television documentation to determine whether your TV supports NTSC input and how to configure it.

I use SCART to plug it in. The problem is that my Laptop sends Pal signal but the TV only takes NTSC-M signal... Any way to configure the laptop to send NTSC-M signal?

With some cards, you can select the output signal format from the settings.

As for your TV... I am a bit confused; if you live in Finland, and you bought your television set locally, then it would definitely take a PAL signal. Unless you brought your TV over from America or something.

ALL Finnish TV sets take PAL primarily, and some fancy ones take NTSC.

I am having the same problem. I live in Estonia and own a TV purchased in Estonia. My computer is a new Gateway, purchased in the US. I am connecting via S-video from the computer to a SCART card at the TV. I would like to know how Reno worked out the problem. (Aitah.)
