  1. This is from yesterday's local newspaper (NZ Herald, Wednesday, 29
    February, 2012) ...

    25,000 iPads for students
    -------------------------
A Texas school district is trying to close its digital
divide by distributing thousands of Apple tablets in a
move that could make it the largest iPad programme for
students in the US. McAllen Independent School District
began distributing 6800 devices this week and says
every one of its more than 25,000 studenst will have an
iPad or iPod Touch by this time next year.

Good to see that Apple tablet being used for educational purposes.
It makes you wonder if advances in technology will replace teachers.

Doubtful. But it is a good indication that the excessive cost of textbooks
will hopefully soon come to an end.
