    I have been fiddling around with CSS/HTML and I made this page from scratch. It doesn't have a lot of content but there is some on the misc page.

    http://home.comcast.net/~dttm/index.html

    Any comments? Suggestions? Constructive criticism?

    Not bad.

    Maybe you could have the links, the ones in the top left (home etc) in a different colour and not underlined?

    Plus, too much red on a web page isn't good - it hurts the eyes.

    Is there a way to override the CSS effects for a certain section such as where you suggest to make text-decoration:none?

    You have to give them a class.

    So say you want most alinks the same thing, then you do what you have done in your CSS already:

    a {
    color: white;
    font-family: Arial;
    font-size: medium;
    text-decoration: underline;

    so anything that you put as <a href="http://www.website.com">home</a> will have that.

    But to make it different, you need to give the link a class, which you do like this:

    a.link {
    color: blue;
    font-family: Arial;
    font-size: medium;
    text-decoration: none;
    }

    so, in order fo a link to have that you need to do this:

    <a class="link" href="http://www.website.com">Home</a>

    I noticed the change in colours :) far easier on the eyes.

    Now my eyes aren't reclining due to the harshness of red :)

    Heh... I didn't think it was that bad... W3 actually labeled one of those colors as brown.

    2 things
    first: you may not want to put a link to your email on the page, it leaves you open to spam
    also, you might want to have it open nickweb's website in a new window (dont want to lose traffic, you know?)

    Ya, Good point. Once they open up Nickweb's website they might just keep going forward from there. But, If once they close Nickweb's your website is there they prolly have another look around.

    It looks like some of the borders are off a bit. Also, I noticed you used the XHTML doctype, but a lot of your code is not XHTML compliant.

    Great Idea! Fixed.

    Edit: @James
    I am still working on the compliance problems... still figuring out the proper order... the border is off since the symantec feed overrides the % if it the set percentage is smaller than the feed... I am waiting to see how big I will make the left column, then I will adjust the feed and center column.
