My virus software tells me that C:\windows\iexplorer.exe is infected with the win32/spybot.qz virus. It says it can't clean the infected file, but it gives me the option to delete it.

Does it mean delete the virus, or delete the whole iexplorer.exe file? Obviously, if I do that, Internet Explorer won't run.

yes

If you do that IE wont run, but you can easily install it again

what oyu can do is download a different browser for the mean time, delete IE and then re-download IE and install it using the other browser.

Several are:

Mozilla firbird and opera.

Yes, is there a site I can download IE 6.0 as a single zipped file, and just re install it? I know that on Microsoft's own site, you download a setup file, and the browser is installed over the 'net, but of course that won't work with a deleted browser!

Problem fixed. I set up Mozilla browser, then deleted the virus, but IE 6 continues to work without reinstalling. As long as everything works.....
