Well I stopped using Slack. I've gone to Arch (which you would have noticed if you've seen my sig lately). It is the best distro I've ever used. You can read my review of it here. It is i686 optimized, so it is blazing fast. It also has great package management, a:
#pacman -S mozilla-firebird
Is all that is needed to install MozillaFirebird. They also keep their package database up to date, so you always download the latest of something when you install. The only downside to it is that it has no hardware detection (you have to know what modules everything needs).

im all about dual booting, and since there is no more support for red hat then im either going back to slackware or turbolinux, or im going to try out debian&gentoo.......but with arch, what is the default? Grub or Lilo, I know I can load any one of them but I like everything automated......

I really hate Lilo.

You can use either. I use LILO because that's what I've always used and I like the syntax of the scripts better. There really is no 'default' boot loader in Arch like there are in most other distros (Slack = LILO, RH=Grub, etc). When it gets time to select a bootloader you're just faced with a menu and two options - pick the one you like best .

Well, I switched back. After a couple days of using it it started crashing for no apparent reason. So I'm back to Slack now... though Sourcemage was nice, maybe I'll try that again...

After a week or two of Slackware I got sick of it again... it's too slow and the package management sucks. So I decided to reinstall Arch and see what the problem was. It turns out I burned a bad ISO. So I had to reinstall Slackware so I could download and burn a new ISO so I could install Arch . Now I've got Arch running stable, and I'm using Grub . I've always used LILO, but I've been hearing good things about it so I decided I'd give it a shot. It's nice, no more forgetting to type:
#lilo

I GOT ANOTHER BOX! WOO HOO!

They release about 3 to 5 new/upgraded packages a day. They have some of the fastest developers I've ever seen . Unfortunately, since I upgraded to 2.6.0 it's started crashing again so I moved to Source Mage (which is better for me anyway since it's source based).
