Super Off Topic Audio Question

I am well aware this is a computer forum lol but I have a question about car audio:

Can anyone here recommend some decently priced speakers from a good manufactuer? My cars speakers are going bad. I know this is completly off topic but I thought Id give it a shot. Thanks lol. Thought maybe there might be some car people here. You never know

I have a 1997 Buick Skylark Gran Sport. It has the original stock speakers.

I used a guide from Crutchfield.com and got these results:

In-dash stereo
5-3/4" depth; Size code DD,E
Front speakers
Front Door: 4x6"
Rear speakers
Rear Deck: 6x9"

On there site I looked at these speakers and liked the reviews people gave both of these:
Front Speakers: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...TSG4642&tp=100

Rear Speakers: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...s&viewAll=True

Pioneer was a brand name that I have heard of so I looked at theres. I also don't know if Crutchfield.com has good prices. I havent looked around to much.

Pioneers are good speakers. You won't be disappointed with the speakers you linked, they are good factory replacements. If you are going for high performance, I can link you some more expensive front speakers that you can put an amp to, but if you are just replacing factory speakers those will be fine.

When I was 16 I had a pair of the 6"x9" speakers you linked (the model for the year I was 16, not the current model but same design) hooked up to a 200 watt amp and it sounded great. People thought I had 10" subs in my truck and never believed they were only 6x9s until I showed them.

Hmm I never really gave a thought for an AMP and plus I'm not really sure what it is or where I would put it lol. I dont really want to "pimp" my car out as it is one that you really wouldnt want to pimp. I love it and just want some nice speakers that are fairly priced. I just want some speakers that sound good when i blare them lol.

If you think it would be worth the money to do all of that I wouldnt mind looking into to it. But I am looking to keep it on the cheap side.

They will sound good. If you add an AMP then you will start getting expensive.

How much is an AMP going to cost and what does it do?

AMP is short for amplifier. It makes your stereo louder and adds base. On 6x9s it would sound good, make them louder and add some base.

When you pull up to a car that is shaking everything around it, that is because they have big subwoofers and a big amp.

For your pioneer 6x9s I would recommend:
If you want to stay full pioneer
or
This one would probably sound better, but now you lose the full pioneer system.

Yeah you'd have to wire it up. That amp and those speakers wouldn't shake everything around you, it would just make it louder and add a little bass.

I just pointed out I had an amp on mine to show the quality of the speaker.
