Solution for new problem, plz help with .dmp file

I have been having good success with XP as of late, I was even thinking I would treat myself to a new comp soon. Then this started happening and it has shook my confidence.

Two night ago I was browsing the www and then my mouse stopped working. After several reboots, and checked ALL wires, and drivers (everything was up to date), it still only works for about 20 minutes at a time. The it freezes again. I have tried 3 diff mice, and 2 keyboards, to no avail.

Specifics;

Socket A Sempron 3000
1.5gb ram
200gb maxtor internal and external
toshiba dvd/writer
Shuttle SK43g

The machine has been stable for years, I can leave it on to do file transfers with band mates for weeks on end (gotta love ICQ for its stability). I only really use it for storing/ripping/encoding jam sessions, and various basic music stuff.

I saw a "windoze survived a major problem, plz send Bill this dump log", I have tried reading the log, but I just dont get it.....
But this really stumps me. The mouse acts alot like its "busy", with very jerky motions, then it just stops, and leaves me screwed, becasue for what ever reason the scroll lock button doesnt work either now. When i try to engage it, all scroll/number/cap lock buttons light up simultaneously, and nothing happens. I get about 20 minutes before it freezes again( with out the mouse its hard to figure out if something is hogging the system, the few times I was able to open task manager everything seems normal, nothing sucking up 100%, just idles at 12ish %)(anybody want to geuss how many times I've typed this?).

I tryid to do a repair of xp, and still. Nothing. I also did a system restore, anti virus (avast), and uninstalled win amp, as it was the only thing I added in the last 3 months (any suggestions on a simple player with a pleasant gui?). I dont have SP3 installed, but all my updates are good (XP Pro).

I have also spent some time trying to open a .dmp file and havent found anything to help me. MS system tools. seems to be a bout as good a *****. I will upload it if anyone can piece this puzzle I would be grateful.

Cheers
Alan

ps, sometimes banging away at ctrl+alt+del, helps to awaken the cursor, but it still freezeseventually

I'm guessing your motherboard is having some issues.
Is this a USB keybaord and mouse by any chance, or PS/2?

Its a ps2, I will try a usb tonite, but running out of ports..lol.

In the future I think I will try to keep a spare mouse at home too, something in the back of my mind says that I had wanted to do that.

The reason I prefer ps2 mice is because for whatever reason, my comp doesnt recognize usb mice on startup...and it can be a pain waiting till my usb recognizes it, even with my sdCard reader it sometimes takes 12 tries or more tries of pluging in, to read it, even with good drivers...hey hmmmmm,,,maybe we are on to something, bad mobo?

I tired to upload my .dmp file, but I dont see it here...so here goes again

Alan

I keep getting an invalid file error when trying to upload my .dmp file.

?????

There's nothing in your .dmp file that can be helpful. Its a binary format that is useful for Microsoft.
It sounds to me like your motherboard is having some real issues-for the price of purchasing a new motherboard/processor you can probably buy (as much as I dislike them) a new dell.
