Shutting Down PC's

I take it there's a way to set all computers attached to a Win2003 server PC to shuttdown and turn on at certain times of the day?

Google brings up a few idea's, so I'm asking here for more input

Turning off isn't a problem, but getting back on is a problem. Typically this is how we do it (we're a huge Dell shop-this works in them but I don't know about your hardware). We set a 'power on time' in the BIOS that turns the pc on at a set time. Then we use a utility that you can get our of the Resource Kit on the Windows 2003 disk called 'shutdown.exe' (This may be included by default in XP and Vista). You can setup .bat file to call shutdown.exe and give the logged in user a chance to save their work before they shut down.

Thanks Fenis - That narrowed down what I needed to google. It came up with the following:

Is that more or less what you're describing?

Yes-shutdown.exe is the proper tool to use in that situation. If your computer supports advanced power management (it should unless its 10+ years old) the computer will power off after you issue shutdown.exe /s. If you run shutdown.exe at the command line with no arguments it will display a help file that shows what you can do with it.
