Really stoooopid!!!

I did an incredibly stupid thing today. Findin that my satellite system was causing my puter to freeze I decided to se a new partition, using partition magic, and install a clean XPpro to use solely as the base for my 4 puter network. I followed all the instructions, or thought I did, only to watch my 40gig hd turn into one 10 gig and one 8 gig. There is no sign of the rest, even through explorer and when the operation was taking place it only showed the 18 gigs being reformatted. Is there any chance that I might be able to recover the info that was on the front part of the drive, and is so ...how?
thanks guys in advance
Mike

Most likley not, unless the portion of your drive was not written with new data. Check out GetDataBack, I have used this and it works great.
