RAM Questions...experience and opinions

Ok, so I've noticed that dual-channel RAM has grown a lot in popularity. Could someone explain what makes it better than "single channel". How exactly does it work? And also could you recomend a good brand. I've heard a lot of good stuff about OCZ and Crucial, but they seem newer, should I maybe stick with Corsair or Kingston... and why?

Just FIY I am currently running a i865 on an Asus P4P800. Also my friend wants to know what would be best for an AMD Athlon 64 that isn't too expensive. Thanks.

We have a FAQ on Dual Channel. Also, Crucial has been around for a long time. Crucial is owned by Micron. Micron makes almost all of the RAM chips for every manufacturer out there.

The reason it works is a simple principle. Think of a multi-lane divided expressway. This is dual channel. Now, think of a 2 lane country road. This is single channel. Now even though the speed limits might be the same (memory frequency) the highway can move more traffic because it has twice the lanes.

MicronPC went out of business... I am not sure if they are sublets of eachother or completely unrelated.
