Ram Question

A few months back I upgraded the ram in my laptop from 1gb to 4gb. I bought two 2x 2gb sticks. Whenever I go to My Computer on vista it says I only have 2.25 GB of ram. Does anyone know why it does this? Does this really mean I only have 2.25 and I'm not getting my true 4gb out of my laptop?

What kind of laptop do you have? Your laptop may not support 4GB of ram and 2.25GB may be the max it supports.

I own an Acer Aspire 5100-5674 It says on my laptop. When I was purchasing RAM it told me it maxed out at 4gb and could handle 2X2gb stick.

Yeah most of the Acer line can handle 4GB, so I don't know what your issue is. Have you run memtest to see if you get any errors?

Is that Vista 32-bit or 64-bit?

32-bit can't handle 4GB worth of RAM, IIRC.

Just like WinXP 32-bit.
