RAID question

Ive had an (1)80GB SATA hardrive for awhile on some kind of RAID. It has gotten full over the course of its use.

If I were to buy a 2nd 80GB SATA hardrive to setup a "true RAID" would I have to reformat? or could I just deframent or use some utility?

Also would it be 160GB or would it still be 80GB?

Well it depends on the configuration. If you wanted to do a mirror raid, then no. But you wouldn't get any performance benefits then. If you wanted to add storage, or do increase performance you'll have to reformat.

So how am I going to do this...

Can I duplacate the drive onto some other drive? then wipe/format the two SATA in the RAID and then write it back to the RAID?

Could I possably do a ghost?

I really do not want to lose any of my programs on my hardrive.

First you have to decide what RAID setup you want, I made a FAQ on the basic RAID setups. Do you have a RAID controller card? If not, you will not see any performance increase. I believe you will actually have to format for whatever setup you go with since XP needs to know how to boot from that card/controller.
