Quicktime to mpeg? Can I convert?

Hi, great forum. I was wondering if anyone here could answer a quick time question.
Is Quicktime related in anyway to mpeg or avi? When I search all video in Windows XP, I do not get results related to two quicktime clips on my drive. They appear when I do a grab all files in my ATI multimedia library, but other than that I cannot locate them , even tried searching for .MOV extention in XP search.
My main reason for asking this is because I wanted to burn a clip to DVD.Can Quicktime be converted to mpeg? I did a google search and really havent found any help.
Thanks

Quicktime's only relation to AVI and MPEG is that it's a multimedia encoding format. That's all. Quicktime's Apple's creation. I am sure Microsoft products support it very reluctantly, if at all.

Can you convert MOV to MPEG? Absolutely. The thing of it is, as I am sure you know, that the format used on DVDs is usually MPEG-2... The MPEG-2 encoding technology is traditionally rather expensive, therefore most applications will convert to MPEG-1 but not 2. However, that shouldn't be a problem... I do believe some DVD authoring tools support MOV files, but I think it will be easier if you convert a MOV to MPEG-1 (or AVI) first and then use a DVD authoring tool to do the rest. Every DVD authoring tool will definitely accept a MPEG-1 file.

As for converting, you should take a look at these applications and these as well.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
