Questions on tuning my 'new' XP

G'Day Dreamers...

I've just discovered a new world...

XP.

Somewhat different from win98.

How/where do i paste my beloved "webpage favorites" I saved from WIN98.

It used to be a folder in Windows in 98.

But now - 'where do ya stick 'em??'

Go to my computer , C: (or what ever drive windows is on), Documents and Settings, Faaris (or what ever your user is called), and click on the star icon that is labelled Favourites.

Anyone want to share a tip about XP or a program I should download to enhance it etc??

Or maybe a link to another thread that would be beneficial for me to read??

Check out your Tweak Section also. There's not a ton yet. I am also not finished with this site- not sure when I'll finish it. www.binarydreams.us/tweakguide - It was designed for Mozilla, although I haven't even styled it yet.

Well, when it comes to improving XP performance, in my personal opinion, the first thing you should do is switch from the annoying candy GUI to the good old Win2k look.

As in right-click on the task bar, select properties, and then start menu, and classic start menu... also right-click on the desktop and select classic windows on the themes page...

You may also want to check Control Panel/System's performance settings, set them to optimal performance as opposed to unnecessary bells and whistles.

Thanks for the help...

With XP can I change all these boring yellow folders to custom icons??

I remember when i had a mac at work it had 'South Park' characters for the folder icons and so on.

Can this be done??

Where can i find some icons (if answer is yes)?

Yes, you are able to change most of the icons of your folders, just right click > properties and customize i believe, and a great website for icons would be http://www.foood.net/ and www.wincustomize.com
