Programs by clock

Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of some of the programs by my clock so my computer runs a little faster. I have ALOT of them there.

it's usually right click - disable icon in system tray

I would go to Add / Remove Programs first. Then if you run HijackThis you can see what's in your Run key in the Registry. Doing this is more accurate then running msconfig.

check your startup folder. also for windows 98.. check your files in the c directory. autoexec.bat, config.sys, system.ini etc. dir/a/w will list all hidden and edit particular files editing with .bat, sys, ini files. hope that helps

run msconfig in the run box, uncheck startup programs in the start up tab that you dont want to start up when you boot
