Problem with nvidia nforce 2 onboard sound

ok, I put together a comp myself and everything works fine on it except for one thing.... the sound. It will only come out of the right speaker, I am sure that the left one works. is there any cords inside of the tower (on the mobo) that I could have plugged in wrong to cause this?

If it's on board sound it's built in. Are you trying to play a CD or an MP3? What OS do you have? Did you try updating the drivers? Are the speaker cables in the right place?

I am using windows xp, have the latest drivers. Anything, CD's mp3's games and even the boot up sound only come out of the right side. I discovered something though, If i barely plug in the cord than it comes out the left speaker. Also, if I turn a knob on my subwoofer labeled 3d surround sound it comes out of the left speaker too (but it lowers the sound quality IMO) Maybe there is something wrong with the MoBo?
Would the newest version of Directx help?

Edit: no the latest version of directx won't help.

DirectX does have some effect on sound, you could try it.

What do you have listed in the Sound devices? Look at my attachment to see what I mean. What's the model of your motherboard?

I have an NF7-S MOBO. My sound device is Realtek ac97 audio. Someone on another forum said to use that sound device but it made no difference.

Download the latest BIOS and also install NF7S-win2kxp.exe from the same link I just listed.

Do you have any other speakers to test?

I finally got it to work!

It was some jumpers in the wrong place (on fp102 if that means anything to anyone).
Anyway thanks for the help.

Good. I've never seen an option to change onboard sound settings via jumpers.
