problem with my HP 1610 All in one

I'm having print problems with my HP all in one. Ever since the new cartridges came out and I had to install a software patch to make them work with my machine, I have either lines through the picture (photos) or the top of every line in black and white (documents for school) is cutoff. These cartridges are reasonably new and only had trouble after the new "fix". Anybody got any ideas? I'll be contacting HP for help as well although I'm sure they'll be advising me to get new cartridges. Those suckers get expensive.

Nevermind. I took the cartridge out and wiped off some dried up ink by the nozzles with a warm wet sponge. Seems to have worked. Thanks for looking.

Often time with ink jets the nozzles on the end will get dirty and you will see that kind of behavior. Especially since the software in the printer will try to compensate and will often lay down too much ink trying to fix the problem.
