Problem after RAM install

K here is my HUGE problem.

I recently upgraded my ram..from 128 to 512 mb. K i installed them correctly BUT now my PC wont START UP !!!!!!!.....the computer has power the cd rom drives work...but the monitor and thepower button dont light up...I can hear the PC working like as if it was on but nothing happens>

I dont know what to do the only way i can turn on my PC is 2 Unplug and replug in the power cord this kind of "Jump starts" the PC.. BUT this is a real pain i would just like to load upp my PC normally ...OH i forgot the PC restarts Perfectly its just when i shut down and later try to start up.

Windows ME
866 MHZ pentium 3
Ati radeon 9600 pro
512 Mb of ram

First of all make sure you bought the exact same type of memory you had initially.

Somethng I've done is not pushed the RAM all the way into the slots. Go in and make sure it is fully pushed in (it cant take a lot) and make sure the it is clamped down by the small claming-thingys on the ends. Or maybe you bumped yor graphics card or some other plug. just make sure everything is in its respective slot and plugged in.

how old is your comp? Your mobo might not support that much ram also

I would say it wasn't installed correctly if it doesn't boot up properly. What is your motherboard? I would not keep "jump starting" your board unless you want it to be fried.

Are you using the same type of ram?

That's what I thought. Good job on discovering fixing it.
