Printer issues

k at work we have a hp color laserjet 4600. my boss's pc crashed and we just got everything back up and running EXCEPT this printer. it's working, all the drivers are installed fine and everything, but it is SO slow! it was never this slow before the crash.
here's what it seems to me that it is doing: it acts like it is spooling every copy of a file individually. for example, i was printing our flyers from photoshop. i set it it to print and told it to print 50 copies. everything was so slow that i looked at the printer jobs window. instead of it saying "Document A Printing 50 Copies" once, it says "Document A Printing 1 Copy" FIFTY times!!
it's like it's having to resend all the document's info for every copy it prints! it will print one page and then do nothing for 50 or 60 seconds. then you can hear it "gear up" again and it will print a second page and then nothing for 50 or 60 seconds. then again it "gears up" and prints another one.
before the crash, it would take a few seconds for it to "gear up" and then it would print page after page after page after page without spooling (or whatever) again.
how can i fix this?

Cynthia

it sounds like a driver issue. if possible, try finding a newer updated set of drivers. if you reinstalled the drivers from the cd, chances are that they are old drivers with a little bug. it didn't happen before because it may have already been updated the last time it was working fine.

good luck.

I agree that it could be a driver issue, it also could be a misconfiguration issue as well. First, uninstall any HP LJ software you have installed. Go to the Printers folder, File | Server Properties | Drivers | Delete any LJ 4600 drivers.

Now, download and install these drivers.
