Post-SP3 patching/Live install problems
I reformatted and reinstalled XP. I installed SP3, and from thereon I've been unable to install any other updates from MicrosoftUpdate, and I also cannot install Windows Live Messenger. No error code, nothing, just "failed."
![]() Problem: A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed is all MS Update says. --- Nevermind, problem solved at least as far as MS Update goes. I haven't tried Live yet. Fix? 1. Click Start > Run and type regsvr32 wuapi.dll 2. Repeat for each of the following DLLs: regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 wups2.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuweb.dll
