Please check signal message!

Whenever I insert my graphics card into my PCI slot and turn my computer on; I receive an error which states 'Please Check Signal', but, when I take it out, everything works fine. I even tried different slots.

I've had my graphics card working amazingly well for months without a problem. That is until I had to remove it for a while (about 2 days) and then enable my onboard graphics again until then. So, when I went to reinstall my graphics card that's the problem I've encountered.

Its possible that you need to disable the on board video, before inserting the video card.

Can you set the IRQ on the card?

I didn't have to when I first bought it and installed it. It's pretty much plug-and-play.

Could I have ruined the graphics card by not keeping it in it's protective anti-static bag for the few days that I removed it?

It's possible. Where did you keep it?

Forgot to mention that once I receive the 'Please Check Signal' message I hear one beep and then the monitor shuts off.

I put it back in it's original box and then placed it in my closet.

Hmmm. It should be ok. Do you have any other computers to try the card on?
