Pent_2 Vs 40 gig hd

Hello all
my first post
I was givin a 40 gig hd the other day so i have been trying to install it as a secondary master in my Intel P-11 350 512ram
Problem is my computer will not recognise it even if i change it to a slave. Have set the bios to auto and auto
A local shop tells me it's to big for a P-11
But the person who gave it to me took it out of a P-11 Celron 400
Can some one tell me the limmitations on the HDs with pc's and operating systems

Hi, what OS do you have? This sort of thing usually depends on the BIOS. What's the model of your motherboard? There's probably a BIOS update for your board that may fix this issue.

I need to know what motherboard you have to get you the right BIOS update.

Go to CPUID and let us know what it tells you.

Hello James
I used a program called AIDA32
to get the following info then went to the gigabyte site and downloaded what i think is the update with instructions. Just a bit nervous about doing the update incase i screw it up and make it unbootable is that possible

Motherboard ID 08/27/1998-i440BX-8671-2A69KG0DC-00
Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-6BX7(A)/6BXA/6BXC

I downloaded the update 6A6BXA from
http://www.giga-byte.com/motherboard.../BIOS_list.htm
it says it will support 75gig HD

Do you recon it is the right one.
I dont have the f8 flash comand in my bios
so i don't know how it will install the instructions say use the q-flash in the bios but its not there.

Thanks Steve

If that's the right board you have, then the the @Bios utility. I would try using the DOS based flash utility though.
