More printer woes

In MS Word open a multi-page document and scroll some way through it. Click
the mouse to ensure the cursor is at a known position.

Now open the print dialog and print the "Current page". Or use a macro that
will print the current page. Very occasionally a different page appears out
of the printer. It's always a single page, and might not be adjacent to the
one requested.

I've suggested always using Print Preview to confirm the page selection -
but as yet have not been able to confirm whether preview gets it right
always, or whether the printed page is ever different to the preview.

I've heard of this from users at different sites with different versions of
Word, and different operating systems. In no case does it appear to be
repeatable when I'm there - but its relatively common occurrence suggest its
not a user mistake.

Any ideas?

TIA

I have some more information about this problem.

In addition to the failures described above: users typically open the
document and print single pages - for example 3 and 4 - using a macro
designed for the purpose. Usually the correct pages appear, but sometimes
not. Even if they are printed correctly, the follwing failure sometimes
occurs.

Then the user opens the print dialog and chooses to print only pages 3 & 4
using the duplex print facility - this single sheet is then filed (it's a
solicitor's office). Sometimes pages other than 3 & 4 are printed. I have
yet to ascertain whether there is a fixed relationship between the page
numbers requested, and the pages that are printed; or whether the problem is
repeatable either on the same computer or on a different computer. It is
known that this problem does affect all users, both W2k and XP computers,
and Word from both Office 2002 and Office 2003.

The common element is likely to be the documents - most have headers and
footers with a logo ....
