PC crashing when I click IE

G'Day Dreamers

Quite often when I start up and 'click' on that blue 'e' (IE) the PC crashes. Not even a blue screen. Black death.

When I reboot it will do it again and again...til i run ad aware 6...at least that's what I think helps it. I'm a bit 'shell-shocked' from the multiple crashes.

As I've mentioned before I'm pretty limited in PC knowledge...

So do I re-install IE??

Do i have to uninstall current version first??

What version should I use??

P.S. I use WIN98.

Is IE the problem?? What do i need to tell so you can help??

It's hard to say. I would reinstall IE if you can. Or, in 98, go to Add / Remove Programs and try to run a Repair, then upgrade.

G'Day Dreamers.

It's getting worse.

My fault.

I went into add/remove and clicked repair IE.

No change.

I went again to add/remove and clicked restore (?) original settings

There wasn't one before it and now I don't have ANY iE.

It's horrible.

So now I MUST download one from the web.

What version do I need???

Don't forget i have WIN98.

Did i read that Microsoft says iE6 is for win2000 and above??

IE 6 SP1 is available to all OS' except for Windows 95, so you're all set.

how much memory (ram/hardrive space) do you have on your computer? for basic web browseing i think you should have at least 128mb or even 256.... I have a old 500mhz 128mb ram PIII (running linux for servers...) and with mozilla i can have like 6 webpages open and be running a cs server off of it....

G'Day RD2DG

Does this help...

Win98 SE
p4 2.6ghz 800cpu
512 ram
120gb hdd

My problems again...

1. Often told "not enuff memory plz close some programs'

2. It constantly crashes - several times - every day

What else do you need to know??

Windows 98 has a hard time dealing with higher amounts of RAM. It sounds like you may have some sort of memory leak. Since you have a P4 you have reletivley new hardware, are you sure your running the proper dirvers for your chipset, and other components for 98?

Have you tried XP yet?
