PC Crashes while on (AOL) Internet

I Had Windows 98, I upgraded recently to Windows XP, when i'm online with AOL, it crashes (randomly) and it resets the computer, there are no error messages, and i have AOL Broadband, with BT Voyager 100 modem and AOL version 8.0. 128 MB RAM, 600MhZ.
I also have SP1.

Did you do an Upgrade or a clean install? Go to Control Panel and Admin Tools | Event Viewer. Check out the System logs. Look for the exact time the crash happend. Post the log here.

I did a clean install of XP.

It crashes at completely different times, and has crashed over and over, the times vary a lot.

I think this is the log:

Error code 1000007f, parameter1 00000008, parameter2 80042000, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Thanks

I can't find anything from that error, is that a copy and paste from the log?

This looks like a driver issue. What hardware do you have? Did you get the latest drivers and updates from MS?

I'm having trouble downloading any driver files, as it crashes every time i get a few percent.... any other ideas? Someone else suggested it could be a chipset/modem voltage drop problem.. I have an AMD Athlon and apparently that can be problematic. Any suggestions? Thanks to those who have made suggestions so far too...

Happy X-Mas!

-BTW, sorry for not replying recently... crashes are sooooo frustrating....

Try removing the modem, and then moving the card to the slot on the end. Do you have any friends that have a burner? Sounds like that's what you will have to try if your PC locks up so much.

What kind of modem is it?

it's a BT Voyager 100 modem. I don't know anyone who, if they had one, would let me use it, my friends dads are very protective of their computers... I have a download site for the drivers, and a download accelerator to "store" any half-finished downloads, but it keeps failing. Any chance of anyone providing an idea of how to get them?
