OS Boot Problem

I just built my computer and tried to load up Red Hat Linux OS on it. Thats not the operateing system i want but will have to do untill i get enough money to buy Windows XP. Anyways, linux loaded successfully and the computer restarted like normal. But then a "Checking DMI Pool" came up at the end of a hardware and device list. And it just stayed in that one spot. any suggestions for fixing this problem?

Did you get a kernel panic?
[edit]
You may want to look back at the error logs and see if something else is going on. My kernel would hang on 'Found new USB bus: Assigning bus number 1' on Gentoo but the freeze had nothing to do with the USB bus. /var/log

No nothing like that. Just a list of my HDD and CD-RW. And a bunch of other connectins. No error messages came up at all.

See if there's anything in /var/log (you can use a live distro like Knoppix to look). Also, how long are you waiting? RedHat takes a ******* long time to boot.
