OS boot issue
I am currently using the Windows XP Home OS and recently my computer will not boot up saying that a necessary configuration file has been lost or deleted and then then it goes on to tell me how to fix it. So I put in the OS CD and hit R to repair when a menu pops up and it asks me to what I want to repair so I choose C:/Windows which is the only option available. It then asks me for an administration password. I have tried every single password or numeric code I can find and nothing seems to work. This is probably a stupid question, but does anyone have a clue what is going on here? I thought maybe if I repaired it I would not lose everything on my computer, like the last time this happened and I just reformatted the harddrive. Any help here would be muchly appreciated!!.Emily |

The password might be blank. If you bought it from a manufacturer like Dell, or Gateway, the admin password is generally blank. So just try to hit enter when the password dialog appears.
