Once again, another problem with 98
Windows 98, the problems never end. Any way, I have installed 98Se, on my old PENTIUM 1 machine, so do not tell me to upgrade to XP, PLEASE! Any way, recently I have been experiencing, problems establishing a connection to the internet. The problem only occurs, when any application tries to connect to the internet. The application is forced to end, and at times, when I am trying to use IE, it will reach a point where it freezes becomes unstable and I have to restart. This problem began occuring after I installed a Bluetooth Dongle, using the WIDCOMM Drivers. Problems occured during and after the installation. I have uninstalled it, but the problems still occur. Why?

Sounds like low resources to me. Even with 256 MB of RAM, Win98 had problems. There was a leaky memory problem. Also if you have even 2-3 programs running in the backround, if they are intensive or hog resources, when you run the application that uses the Internet, it may grab so much of what is left of resources, it may freeze or crash your system. Can you tell me how much RAM you have in the machine. Also how many apps run at the same time?
