Notepad Problem

I'm having trouble opening notepad documents... Everytime I try to open one I get a message saying ''WhateverITryToOpen.txt is not a valid Win 32 application''. I've also tried to open Notepad alone but when I clicked on the icon I got 'missing shortcut'...I then clicked on browse and then 'Documents&settings-all users-start menu-accesories' then I clicked on the little notepad icon to try to restore it , I still got 'not a valid Win 32 application'. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

What happens if you go to file:///C:/WINDOWS/system32/notepad.exe ?

Na, theres no Notepad Icon on that folder.

That link should open up Notepad. That's where the .exe lies.

Try this: file:///%SystemRoot%/system32/notepad.exe

If it's not there, then someone removed it. Try doing a search for it also. We can replace it for you if you need it.

I clicked on the link, but i get a message saying to make sure the path or internet address is correct. I guess someone removed it then... my cousin was here over the weekend and he used my computer, he probabaly did it by mistake. I also tried to search for it but nothing came up.

Try coping the link and pasting it into the Run box. It may not work when it's linked here.

haha. It doesn't work i get the "not a valid Win32" message.

Put this into your System32 folder.

It finally works... thanks a lot.

Can someone post the file please. My notepad has the same problem.
