No Sound

I just reformatted my desktop after not using it for a long time. I installed my sound drivers but Windows XP wont recognize my speakers or my headset. When I go to start>control panel> Sound, speech and Audio Devices> Sound and Audio Devices it tells me I have no Audio Advice. How can I get it to recognize my headset or my speakers? Thanks

What kind of computer do you have? If you go into Device Manager (right click My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager) is anything listed with yellow exclamation points?

Windows doesn't need to recognise the speakers (unless they are USB, which is rare) - you need to get your sound card working properly first

I'd try what Fenis-Wolf says first, as that will let you know if there are problems with the drivers you installed.
