no signal being received from router

Hey guys,

We just got a new internet connected/router for our new flat, and everything's set up to work fine, but in my room (which is a bit away from the only place we can connect the router to the only phone line in the flat) I can't get a signal, so what are my options? I really need to be able to use the net in my room.

Thanks.

Also, in the configuration page for the router, it says:

The BT Home Hub is compatible with wireless repeaters supporting WDS (Wireless Distribution System). Adding repeaters to your home network can help extend the wireless range of your BT Home Hub.

How do these repeaters work? Do they need to be plugged into a phone socket (we have ADSL)? Because we have only one phone socket in the flat, and that is located at one end of the flat in the living room, to which the router is connected to.

The best option probably is indeed a repeater. And no, a repeater doesn't need a phone socket, only a power outlet. It acts as a relay, extending the range of the network.

For big is your flat? Typically one wireless access point can cover a midsized house, an appartment shouldn't be any trouble.

It's a very long flat. The living room is at one end of the flat, and then there is a single long corridor branching off the living room, along which all the rooms stem from. My room is the end room, therefore the furthest away from the living room. Also, there is only one telephone socket, which is in the living room.

Any alternative suggestions would be appreciated since the repeaters look quite expensive. Are Access Points different to repeaters? Or are they just synonyms?

You might try this: http://lifehacker.com/software/how-t...der-296367.php
I would recommend putting the router at one end of the house (as it sounds like it is), and then pointing the booster in the direction of the other end of the house.
