New camera (Canon Digital Rebel XT)

Nothing special here, just some shots I took of my car for testing purposes. I think I'm getting the hang of this camera. The pictures were taken with the 18-55mm kit lens in manual mode....god forbid that I use program mode (automatic) for this camera... Minor touch ups were done in photoshop CS3.

My friend (bought the camera from him) gave me an earful for about 2 hours and this is what I picked up, not bad eh? Haha.

This is just a guess, but, no one and I mean no one is eating a burger or drinking chocolate milk in that car of yours...am I right?

Yep, none of that stuff goes in my car. If it does, it stays in the paper bag.

I take it that you got that from my clean engine bay? Haha. People think I'm crazy for even bothering with keeping the engine bay clean.

It ain't crazy, it's awesome. If I had a car like yours, I'd keep it just as pristine.

Thanks. I'll admit that the first shot had a little bit of photoshop magic (the sky and the blur). I took the same picture under several exposures, I attempted an HDR merge but it just didn't work out the way that I wanted it to. So I sampled the sky from that darker exposure and blurred it to cover any obvious mistakes

Haha, thanks. Too bad it won't help the depreciation rate though...Nissans are horrible with that

yeah, blurring is the established way to hide errors, I do it in my films in an artistic way.

I think I'll be doing some HDR images soon, I was actually thinking about doing it this morning on the train into uni

I learned the hard way that an HDR merge only works with -2, 0, +2. I tried it with -1, 0, +1 and they were too similar to provide a nice exposure range.

But you probably already knew that.

Some nice pics there, I really like that 1st one too

I'd love to see some HDR shots I've tried making some using just a single RAW file and some software trickery, but as expected the results weren't too good - one day I'll try it properly though with +2/0/-2
