Need help buying a tablet//notebook Combo...

hey guys with university on the horizon I find a need to buy a new laptop//tablet combination PC to assist me.

I'm looking for a tablet//laptop combo which is pretty portable but has a good balance of portability and power.

It should have a tablet screen and keyboard as I want to be able to do both. (would portability still be available?)

Also the random times I want to run games and stuff may occur so if it could have at least some power.

Can anyone help me out on what brands to stay away from, or even specific models? I haven't heard much about tablet pc's or brands specializing in them. And i haven't heard anything bad about specifics. But a little help would be nice

Do tablet//notebooks still run on XP tablet? Or...

thanks.

I believe it all comes down to how much you want to spend. What you are looking for will be about 1500 to 2000 USD

To my knowledge they run on Xp Home/Pro and now Vista

I would look at Acer and IBM(I hear IBM sold all of their computer biz to some other company).

You will be unable to run any modern games in a satisfying way on a tablet. End of story. My boss had one at my old job, he seemed to like it. Be prepared to have an external cd-rom, and very limited upgrades.

I looked at some, HP did not have many to choose from, Acer and IBM seemed more promising.

If you can wait till some time later this month HP is coming out with an entertainment tablet/laptop. The price is unknown at the this time. Ill see if I can find it again.

No they don't. Its a tactic they use to keep the weight down. They're almost always external drives that you plug in with USB.
