My soon to be new system?

So like I have some questions about some of these parts, some I dont. Im trying to save up right now to build a new system, even though I dont need one, I love to build!

Mobo - Is MSI a good choice?

Video - ATi all the way! I hope the price drops soon

CPU - AMD, biggest and badest, but not for long I hope

Monitor - Viewsonic, I don't really care for widescreen, but it's cheap!

PSU - Thermaltake, I've been drooling over this for way too long now!

RAM, Sound, HDD, CD/DvD - All of that will be taken out of my current pc, I may buy some new SATAs so I can use raid 0+1

Lastly I am looking forward to a new operating system to be released before I have enough money. Over time I will get better cooling. Also, I have not found a case yet...

Any suggestions?

What kind of case are you looking for? Window? Lights? Or something more minimalist?

MSI is a decent choice, but for the best mobo for AMDs go DFI all the way. I have been using them for every computer I've built in the last six months. The are (literally) a joy to work with. And if you ever want to overclock... omg the options you have with that board. It even makes ASUS boards look like kiddie stuff.

In all seriousness, as much fun as new hardware is I would suggest you wait a few months for AMDs new line up, Socket AM2. By that point Nvidia will there newest graphics card out which should drive current prices (of even ATI cards) down a bit.

Also check out Mwave.com and Monarchcomputers.com I usually find that they have the best prices.

MSI is a good choice for a motherboard. I have an MSI board now and it has been great.

I would also think about waiting because, as Cuddlez said, AMD will be comming out with a new socket in Q2 2006. If you are going to build now, I would look into a dual core processor since more and more software is taking advantage of dual core processors.

As far as the new operating system, if you are planning on using Windows Vista, I believe I read that that won't be released until late 2006/early 2007.

I think I am going to build a new system around May when AMD releases their new socket.

Ger...I hate new technology There goes MS pushing back its release date again? The reason why Im going with MSI is because they are one of the only Crossfire mobos companies around.

Well they were not on ATi's list and Zipzoom didnt have any DFI motherboards, so there

P.S. I have a good deal of personal reasons against Abit (they eat babies)

That's the one thing that turns me off from AMD is their poor amount of stable boards... maybe I'm just used to Intel's boards.

BTW, you WILL like the widescreen monitor once you use it, I had one at work and it's amazing when it comes to desktop space. Personally, that CPU is way to overpriced, specially if you think about depreciation in the long run. I just don't think it's worth the money.
