Multiboot in Windows 2000

I am thinking about doing a multiboot for Windows 2000, maybe with Windows 98 or something. However, I am not sure I can get it to work. It says I've just got to keep the OS files within its own volume. In addition, I have to make sure that the OS will share the same FAT system. I think I can do both, but the thing is, I'm not sure if the multi-boot screen will just pop up. I feel that there's still some kind of setting I need to get the PC to recognise.

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

Partition the drive into 2 giving enough space for the Windows 2000 installation. To get a dual boot to work easily... install the older OS first. (98 THEN 2000)

There is certainly a Win2000 setting which dictates whether the list of OSs should show and how long for.

Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
Select the Advanced tab and then go to the Startup and Recovery options where you will find the available settings.

If you install Win2k after Win98, Win2k will automatically install its bootloader and add Win98 as a menu item. You shouldn't have to tweak anything.

Sounds like it'll just automatically configure it. That's good. I've just got one more question: could the OS's be on different HDDs, or do they have to be on different volumes on the same HDD to make it work?

Thanks .

To be honest? They can be on differant drives, but you're never going to get it to work smoothly. For now you should just partition one drive and install both OS's to it.
