mp3 player help please!

augh - i'm at my wit's end! i have a 512mb sansa mp3 player. when i first got it i think i just copied and pasted the mp3 files to the player, but i'm not sure about that. the second time i put files on there, i 'synched' them using windows media player. i am now trying to add some more files and i can't. well, i can add the new files but i can't delete the old ones!

i was able to delete some of the files, but not all of them. there are still almost 50 files on there that don't show up in windows media player.

basically, i want to delete all the files from the mp3 player and start over and put all new mp3's on it. but if i go to 'my computer>sansa 512>" the folders are empty. if i use windows media player sync thing it says "there are no files on this device". BUT when i unplug the player from my computer it has like 48 songs on it! and it will play them all! but when i plug it back into the pc it says there are no files again!!! augh! please help me! how do i delete these files that are on there, but don't exist! :rips hair out:

p.s. if i right click on the sansa icon in 'my computer' there is a format option. can i format it? would that work? completely erase everything and let me start over?
