How to make an mp3 into a "blank" video

Basically, I have an mp3 that I would like to turn into a video, with either just a black video with the audio playing, or just a still of some picture as the video with the audio playing.

Is there any free software that would help me accomplish this?

You can use Windows Movie Maker, if you have access to Windows XP.

1. Launch Windows Movie Maker, with a new project.
2. Click on Import Audio or Music.
3. Select mp3.
4. Click and drag it from the Collections into the timeline.
5. Select from the menu, Tools, Titles and Credits.
6. Select option "Add title on the selected clip".
7. Hit space once in the text area (don't write anything).
8. Click "Done, Add Title to Movie".
9. Click and drag the Title Overlay on the timeline (below the music track) so that it is precisely as long as the music track.
10. From the menu select File / Save Movie File.
11. Follow the dialog to provide filename, location to save the file in and your output options based on preference and need.
12. Finish by clicking Next and wait for WMM to encode your video, and then you're done.
