As you may be aware my last questions we're about the os. This time it's about settings.
Alright my server now runs Ubuntu 9.04. Has been since May. So I finally made a favicon for my sites, put it in my root folder and nothing happened. My websites are stored under a seperate hd. so my filesystem is media(websites hd)/web/parallel/. that is where my dyndns client points to and I set that as my root in apache. so I have a favicon.ico file there and nothing happens. I checked it on two computers on firefox and ie. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I think you just helped me find my problem. It says the image cannot be displayed because it contains errors. I'll have to look into that. Thanks.

I got the favicon working now. The problem was photoshop didn't know how to save the extension correctly. I saved it as a png file and used an online converter. This topic can now be closed.
