[SOLVED] Undo typing ????

I was typing an email in the bus. All of a sudden, I saw a quick
mnessage "undo typing" and half of my message disapeared.


How the (4 letter word) does this get acticated ? And is there an undo
"undo typing" to restore the text the iphone has mistakenly deleted by
itself ?


While I am at it, when you reply to an email, you must first hgold your
finger, then click on "select all" then on "cut" to remove the crud that
Apple has chosen to include (instead of giving you a blank message, it
insists on inserting the full message in a terrible top posting mode).

I have noticed a few times that the select all followed by cut didn't
actually cut everything. Anyone else experienced this ?

shake to undo. the bus probably went over a bump or something.

You tapped "OK"? that seems silly.

The undo command gets activated when you shake the device (just like
enabling shuffle in iPod mode, but for text fields). It brings up a
modal dialog. You can press 'cancel' and the text will not be undone.

You can select a part of the message and then reply and only that part
will be quoted.

I've seen it leave behind a 'quote bar' occasionally, but never
anything else.

I don't recall seeing a dialogue. I just tries it now, and I do see it.
And if I shake again, there is a redo typing option. I had no idea
"shaking it" had text edit capabilities. Rather dangerous on bumpy
québec roads.

When I do it now, after the "undo typing" is done, the space formerly
used by that text is selected. I didn't see that in the bus. But I
recall seeing someothing about undo typing, but it appeared to be more
of a temporary warning than a dialogue.


To me, it seemed to happen so fast. And the fact that I didn't see any
selected text means that I continued to type. (the next character you
type clears the selection).


Looking at it now, I can see how continued typing could hit the "CANCEL"
buttton which is over the keyboard, but not the undo typing one which is
above it.

Perhaps with the bump, my fingered moved up and accidentally pressed it.
This could explain the fleeting sight of "undo typing" while not
realising it was a dialogue that waited for my input.

And shaking again allows you to redo.
