Got this in my inbox today:

Quote:
Dear Google Apps admin,

In order to continue to improve our products and deliver more sophisticated features and performance, we are harnessing some of the latest improvements in web browser technology. This includes faster JavaScript processing and new standards like HTML5. As a result, over the course of 2010, we will be phasing out support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 as well as other older browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers.

We plan to begin phasing out support of these older browsers on the Google Docs suite and the Google Sites editor on March 1, 2010. After that point, certain functionality within these applications may have higher latency and may not work correctly in these older browsers. Later in 2010, we will start to phase out support for these browsers for Google Mail and Google Calendar.
If anything's going to slam that last nail in IE6's coffin, it oughta be this.

There are still people out there using IE4 on NT4 for goodness sakes.

It never ceases to amaze me that people do not heed the warnings and update their systems.

There own problem there then Maurcie. As far as I'm concerned, there's no excuse for stupidity and ignorance.

And woop - I almost jumped for joy when I received this email (I got it two times as well - so popular I am). At least Google have their brains screwed on

Just for that line, I'm going to roll all of my browsers back to IE6. I will be the creepy old guy that keeps yelling about how awesome IE6 was "back in my day".

I think just using IE in general will accomplish that...

I remember when monitors were thicker than 2 inches. They were called crt's, and they were so much better than your new fangled LCD's.

My first actual monitor was 14", had neon green text on black background. It was an IBM original, came with the XT. Those were the days. I loved that command prompt.
