Generic USB MP3 player unrecognized

Hey there

A year ago ( I think) someone bought me a Nexxtech (radioshack/ the source) jumpdrive/mp3 player. I used to a few times and it worked fine, I copies mp3 files onto is and they played from the device properly. Now, since my minidisc player has been stolen I was going to try and actually USE it but now windows won't even recognize.

Most of the time nothing happens. I plug it into a usb port (I've tried different ports), but no extra drive appears, if I search for hardware its not there. Once a window came up telling me that windows couldn't recognize a device attached to my system... bleh.

any ideas??

I don't know about that type of player, but I would first make sure the battery isn't dead, then try turning it on while it's plugged in.

basic (iPods, and C.L. Zen are different/more powerful) Mp3 players do not need batteries when plugged into the usb drive

I would try installing the drivers and try the drive on a different computer

What! I loved my minidisc player.... alot more than I've loved any mp3 players... but anyways it did come with drivers but they are only for windows 98, I've tried looking for generic windows drivers but it won't work.

I've tried using it on my laptop, which recognizes the device but mp3 files won't play off the mp3 player once I put the files on it!

Ok this is what I found that will prolly help you its from G4tech Tv

In other words it suggests that you should instal the win98 drivers and that should get it working on Xp
