resisfutil is on a distinguished road to becoming a computer geek

Good afternoon to all, I have an issue with this Intel MoBo that is boggeling my mind. The MoBo is an Intel 875PBZ. Everything works great on it but for some reason I am only getting about 1 Mbit download speed on my USB WiFi adapter. The adapter works perfect (6.6Mb) on two other machines and I tried a linksys USB adapter on this one and get the same 1 Mbit bandwidth. The dirvers have been reinstalled, the BIOS has been updated and checked for setting (also checked against setting on the other machines), the latest adapter drivers have been installed and I am still getting a fraction of my download speed.

If anyone has run across this or something similar any help on this would be appreciated. BTW one of the other machines tested was our IT guys. He's stumped too.
>>Thanx

Could this be an issue with the USB controller? Have you installed newest chipset drivers?

Nope, went thru that one too. Every driver was updated that we (my IT buddy & I) could think of. We moved about 10Gb off an extnal HDD in about 10min. Which is on par with other times I've encountered. Also it seems like it is almost exactly half of the speed it should be at.

What is the USB version? 1.1 or 2.0?

The chipset supports 2.0 I think. I read somewhere that the chipset drivers Intel has up on their site for this particular mobo are old & expired and you need a different set of drivers; I don't know if that's valid info (anymore) but aside from trying to troubleshoot the USB controller that's one thing I'd look at. And of course making sure it's 2.0 and not 1.1...

Hey guys,
It is a 2.0, some new info for yuz. Just for SNGs we put the same adapter onto an older machine (not real old, but old enuf and still have 2.0) and got the same results 1Mb D/L. Well we came upon the conclusion that it isn't the adapter, but the older chipset that doesn't play well with the new kids. We are going to contact the vendor and see if they have a driver for the older chipset.

There could be a driver update for the chipset?
