Firefox 3 Beta 3

Has anyone played with it yet? I really like some of the new features such as the new password management handeling, tab session saving, palces (waiting for foxmarks to update) and the apng support.

One thing I really dislike is the Windows XP theme, the icons look like a flash back to 2001.

Eh it works...

The layout is skinable so I'm not concerned about that, but its typing in my urls that I frequent. Its not so smart when it comes to it. I always just type in the first few letters of the address but with this I practically have to type in the full url. I dunno I'll keep trying it see if I like it any more if not go bact to the previous version.

It took me awhile to get used to it but it does need some work. It is handy to search your history for the address bar but I think they need to slim down the amount of data being shown. I don't like using custom skins as I shouldn't be repulsed by skin.

I am not too worried about skins. I can always replace whatever they "ship" it with. Default skins are usually awful anyway - XP being one great example. Vista's default skin is thus far the only default Windows skin I liked the look of. StyleXP is the first app I slap on after every reformat, after drivers.

However I haven't tried the beta yet nor am I in any hurry to do so. I remember when FF2 came out, the first release was horrid, I went quickly back to 1.5, and the beta was (of course) worse. I've never really been too concerned about trying out beta software, I used to always try Windows OS betas when they came out. Server, desktop, whatever. It intrigues me greatly... But Firefox betas aren't worth the headache for me. The little intricacies I may find in some new beta OS are interesting...in a web browser, they're just annoying.

Besides tbh I think FF is fine as is. I don't like even the sound of a feature that looks up past browser history and tries to complete what I type. I don't even like AutoComplete. I erase url history regularly anyway so it wouldn't do me much good.

I'm now testing the nightly builds in VM and the theme has improved much since beta 3, it's getting better but still needs some improvement. Sites are loading much faster compared to IE7 and FF 2.x. Places continues to improve as well.
