DVD Recorder

Hey guys.

Here it is .. basically at work we normally record video onto VHS and end up putting that onto a DVD back at the office, what I want to know is; can we get a dvd recorder that will record straight to DVD like an analog VHS recorder does? Or at the very least record to some internal memory to be burnt to a dvd later. And ultimately what kind of price range is there and what should I look for?

Its pretty rare that we need to record more than 2 hours of video but we will need to beable to. Even if it involves stopping, burning and deleting video. if that makes any sense.

thanks

Your talking abouts camcorders right? Just replace your VHS video recorder with a dvd video recorder...

These go streight to DVD

These go to mini DVD's

OK, reading the post properly now, what is it you do?

Do you tape TV shows, or do you film things with a camera?

Any standard DVD Recorder will record from a TV station, while if you are using a camera, then thats a different matter, you will need a DVD Camcorder, what are you recording?

Ok sorry lets see if I can explain this better ....

Currently we have an underwater video camera. Its handheld (or radio controlled) but has no recording components. The camera comes into the divebox radio (its got really odd connections) then from the dive box into a regular VCR via RCA cables.

I basically want a dvd player (like under your TV) that can record/burn dvds as the video is coming in.

Hope thats better

In that case, you should just be able to replace the VCR with a DVD player like these or get an input for a computer and burn them through that like these. I'd go with the computer so you can get some video editing software and do on the spot video editing

Hey that looks perfect thanks!

I did think about a computer but I want a cheaper solution ... not to mention the people doing the recording probably aren't well versed in video editiing.

I have an adapter that connects to my USB port on my laptop that I bought for $99 that does that. It captures the video as it comes in and saves it in a file. You can then burn the file or save it for later. I would have to check exactly what it is called, but it would offer an alternative. No video editing required.

there is a product called Pinnacle Instant DVD Recorder, which you have a component to usb device included, then you can record and burn to a DVD all in one process, using your computer

I bought it prurely for the component to usb device, but for what you say you need, it sounds about right link below:

Alright, excellent lots of options. I'm going to do a bit more looking at prices of everything and such but I'll show my boss some of these options.

thanks
