DVD drive won't recognize TDK media

My old INDIE TDK 4x DVD drive won't recongize TDK 16x DVD-R media when I try to burn it with Roxio, AVS or any other program I try to use. I have updated the firmware and all other discs I have used including CD's and DVD-r/+r all work fine. I don't understand why these TDK discs won't work. What else could I try? I have a call into TDK support but won't here anything until Tuesday or Weds because of the holiday.

DVD recorders will typically have problems with some media. Especially off brand DVD/CD recorders.
Also, since thats a 16X DVD, your DVD drive might not be able to support such a high speed. I had a CD burner that wouldn't work with high speed media-you might need to try something a little slower.

Yeah it seems that it's the 16x thing that's doing it. I got impatient and returned it but now am keeping my eye out for a deal on some 8x media. Thanks Fenis-Wolf, haven't seen you around here in a while. Haven't been visiting much myself recently either. Hope you are well. Cheers.

To be honest, I'd upgrade to a 16x burner. You can get one from NewEgg for less than 30 bucks + sh.

Personally, I use a 16x burner with Taiyo Yuden 16x dvd-r's, and it's great. Burned over 500 DVDs, with only one coaster.
