I'm not sure where this belongs or what causes it exactly, I'm hoping to just describe to you the situation and you help me. When playing games such as Final Fantasy 11(FFXI) or Dark Age of Camelot(DAoC), both large online games with considerably graphics, not long into game play it will lock up my computer, and the last sound will loop infinitely. The screen doesn't change, just freezes up. I originally thought it was my sound card due to the looping of the sound but I replaced it and the problem still occured with FFXI. The problem just occured with DAoC and I decided to try to find help. Hopefully I just did.

Could be your accelerator card heating up, for one. Or bad drivers. Which 3d card do you have? GeForce, Radeon...?

I just finished installing the drivers and after reboot, I booted up DAoC. Shortly into the game it locked up and the last sound looped. =\ So the driver wasn't causing it. Anymore ideas?

Hmm, there's some osrt of conflict... Uninstall your Live card, put it at the last PCI slot, and reinstall it with the latest drivers. Sometimes AMD's are funny like that. Also, have you done all the basics? (AMD 4in1's, directx, BIOS, patches for the game, etc..)

Does this happen when you turn down some of the video settings?

When I bought the new sound card and installed it FFXI ran fine for a few days, I think it was a Friday to the next Wednesday, then it suddenly started crashing again. I even just had Halo do it to me. I have DirectX 9.0b, have no idea what the AMD 4in1's thing is, I know what BIOS is but don't understand what you mean by it, and yea, all games fully patched. As for turning down video settings, FFXI had an option to do that and it didn't help any.

What's the model of your motherboard? I can find the chipset drivers (4in1's) and the BIOS for you.

Is your card getting enough cooling? How big is your PSU?
